We’re thrilled to welcome Andrew (Dr Yogi) McGonigle back to Whitespace! He’s a medically trained yoga and anatomy teacher whose passion is making anatomy for Yoga teachers’ fun, practical and inclusive.
Teaching yoga can be just as challenging as it is rewarding, and it’s easy to feel isolated and overwhelmed. This workshop is designed to give teachers space and time to learn techniques that will deepen your own practice, and empower your classes.
Looking through the lens of the latest biomechanical research, the workshop will combine discussion, lecture, group work and asana. You’ll learn techniques to become clear about the language we use in class, and anatomical meanings behind what we say.
What to Expect
This interactive workshop will cover:
- Understanding how to refine the anatomical language we use in class
- Using accurate cues students can digest and understand
- Exploring Hot Topics such as locking joints, squaring hips, use of Glutes in backbends, and more
- Understanding why muscles tighten and how to apply knowledge of fascia to asana
- Exploring the principles of flexibility versus mobility
This is a great opportunity to get answers to your questions about confusing and contradictory anatomical information.
Who’s if For?
This is an opportunity to ask the questions you never get the opportunity to; an invaluable workshop for yoga teachers, whether qualified or in training and from any tradition.
