Ayurveda literally translates as ‘science of life’ and is a complimentary system with yoga; supporting our health, spirituality and wellbeing. Both systems developed in India more than 5000 years ago and follow an intertwined path of overlapping disciplines. Integrating Ayurveda into your yoga practice can bring about a greater sense of balance, self-awareness and improved health.
In Ayurvedic tradition, it’s understood that we’re all made up of three different energies(doshas), known as vata, pitta and kapha. These energies can often be influenced by our lifestyle choices and seasonal fluctuations which can lead to a state of imbalance.
Autumn is considered the Vata season when the predominance of the element of Air, brings dry, rough, cool, windy, erratic and clear qualities to our environment. Ayurveda yoga allows you to make subtle adjustments to your practice, helping to alleviate feelings of stress, anxiety and lethargy often associated with Autumn.
What to Expect
The practice will incorporate flowing sequences, therapeutic poses, as well as meditation and pranayama.
You’ll understand the qualities and manifestations of vata dosha, and how to recognise imbalance. You’ll learn more about your own constitution creating, warmth, serenity and nourishment, leaving you grounded and rebalanced.
Who’s it For?
Recommended for students who practice yoga regularly and have some experience of Yoga Flow. Also beneficial for yoga teachers and teachers in training. Suitable for all dosha types. Not suitable for beginners.
