Develop your teaching skills with our pregnancy yoga teacher training.

Teaching yoga during the time of pregnancy can be such a privilege. As a prenatal yoga teacher, it is vital to be able to create a consistent and supportive space for women at their most intense period of change in life.

This 4-day intensive training will provide the tools for teachers to deliver safe, creative and nurturing classes to women during all stages of their pregnancies – whether you’re integrating pregnant students into your class or teaching dedicated pre-natal classes. Each day will contain group practice and experience of prenatal yoga, lectures, group exercises and teaching practice. There will be additional non-contact hours in the form of assignments and class observations.

The course will cover: Teaching pre-natal yoga classes, integrating a pregnancy student into a general class, Anatomy and Physiology during each stage of pregnancy, Emotional considerations and changes during pregnancy, Common conditions and ailments during pregnancy and how to adapt practice with these, Pranayama, meditation and relaxation for pregnancy

  • The journey of Pregnancy – Understanding the physical and emotional journey of pregnancy
  • Considerations of teaching asana, meditation & pranayama for pregnant students
  • Sequencing a pregnancy yoga class
  • Integrating a pregnant student into an open class
  • Birth and Beyond: Active birth techniques & postnatal

Yoga teachers (qualified and currently in training) who wish to teach Pregnancy yoga or better equip themselves for integrating pregnant students. It is also open to qualified practitioners in the field of pregnancy/birth support and other complementary health disciplines, although in this case please contact the studio for confirmation of your eligibility before making your booking online.

On completion of the course, graduates will receive a Whitespace Certificate of Attendance. Training hours can be used for Yoga Alliance or British Wheel continuing education (e.g. CPD points)

Dawn Wright

The entire pregnancy yoga teacher training course is led by Yoga Alliance Professionals Senior Yoga Teacher (SYT) Dawn Wright who is also one of our principle teachers for the Advanced Yoga & Teacher Training Programme. Her approach is nurturing and supportive, giving students the space to explore their own yoga practice and to safely, informatively and creatively expand their teaching.   Dawn is a mother of 3 children and found yoga to be a powerful tool to her physical and mental well-being both pre and post-natally. She is passionate about sharing practices which support women during this special time, teaches weekly pre-natal classes and runs Birthing Preparation workshops. She has been teaching pregnancy yoga for many years and trained with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli.
