Sarah K – Yoga Teacher

My style and approach to teaching …
My style varies from softness to strength in Yin style classes to Hatha/Vinyasa Flow Classes – mainly centering my approach to allow students to find a link, or dance between breath and movement with grace and strength from the inside out.

My experience and training so far …
I first explored yoga in 2009 in an effort to manage an unhealthy lifestyle. As my endevour evolved into an integrated practice of body, mind and soul – I soon discovered yoga was more than just the physical pose. Immersing myself on a journey of self discovery, recovery and healing, I found myself on the road to share this gift with others and became a qualified teacher in Orlando the summer of 2012. I went on to qualify in Yin Yoga in 2014 here in the UK, along with attending various short courses from anatomy, Thai body work, Ayurvedic science, raw food nutrition and mindfulness. I hope to continue this multi-faceted journey into pregnancy yoga training, restorative and Yoga Nidra with a focus on Yoga Therapy – working with addiction and illness.

The special quality I bring to Whitespace…
My own personal journey to yoga and being open to connect with people from all paths.

My favourite thing about working at Whitespace…
Surrounding myself with the compassion of the environment and like-minded individuals – growing together as a community all on its own.

What’s your favourite pose and why?
My favorite pose in my practice is ‘pigeon pose’ – I truly believe the mental and emotional manifests in the physical and this pose helps to clear my mind and practice using the breath to settle in and find the peace in all the chaos – on and off the mat.

The biggest thing Yoga has taught you?
God – and with that has come self awareness, internal strength and purpose.

A fun fact about me …
My husband tells me I’m all work and no play – and this question is making me come to terms with that!
