My style and approach to teaching yoga:
I aim for clarity and accessibility so that everyone in the class feels that they know what they’re trying to do and how to go about it safely and in a way that suits them on that day. I want people to feel supported and encouraged and to leave the class feeling they’ve spent their time well. If they feel great too that gives me a big thrill. I try to keep things simple and I’m a great believer in the power of smiling and laughing so there are usually a few laughs and giggles in my classes.
My experience and training so far:
I started practising yoga in 2011 and as a learning junkie I have studied with as many great teachers as I can since then culminating in completing my 200 Hour Teacher Training at Whitespace in June 2016. I’ve attended workshops with many internationally renowned teachers and take every chance I can to grow and develop. My own practice is Ashtanga and Hatha but I enjoy Vinyasa Flow and Yin and Restorative Yoga too. I am enrolled in the next Yin Yoga Teacher Training Course at Whitespace early in 201I. I’m a qualified career coach and mediator and have many years experience of leading training courses in leadership and management. I also hold a qualification in Feline Psychology and Behaviour but as not many people bring their cats to yoga classes it’s not used often aside from with my own cat who understands my psychology better then I do his!
The special quality I bring to Whitespace:
I am relentlessly enthusiastic and optimistic about people and their capabilities – human beings are truly amazing!
My favourite thing about working at Whitespace: There’s so much!
The people of course, both students and staff, the space itself and the vibes in the studios. It’s an inspiring place to be.
A fun fact about me:
I once appeared on stage in a supporting act for the rock band Slade whose song ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ still plays everywhere each Christmas season. Relax though – the only singing I do these days is chanting and mantras!
