My style and approach to teaching yoga
I practice and teach Hatha Yoga with a blend of mindfulness, yin & restorative. My teaching is very much inspired by my own experience of life and the healing process. My classes offer a blend of anatomical awareness with philosophical & spiritual offerings whilst developing strength, balance, flexibility and peace of mind. I encourage my students to turn inwards and to explore self-awareness, acceptance, compassion and those boundaries that stand in our way of growth.
A dear friend and student has described my classes as ‘gentle, with a hint of tough when required and a real, deep understanding of the fundamental elements of yoga and all its benefits.’ And, that I have ‘a lovely way of getting my message across, and even yoga-sceptics have been won over after attending a classes!’
I am passionate about sharing my own journey and experience, and hope to inspire others to do the same. Every day presents opportunities to notice, be aware and grow. I am an warrior for this way of life!
My experience and training so far
I first tried Yoga around 10 years ago in a local gym and instantly knew there was something about it that captivated me. However, it wasn’t until I found Whitespace in 2012 that I realised that yoga had the capacity to change my life – bringing a sense of acceptance, wholeness and contentment to my physical and emotional wellbeing. Subsequently, I went on to gain my Associate Level One Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher accreditation in 2014 from Whitespace. Since completing my certification I have been committed to my professional development as a teacher and above all, a student of yoga – exploring numerous workshops and seminars to inspire and contribute to my teaching and practice. As a yoga teacher I am still, and will always be learning, deepening my understanding of yoga – the asana practice, the history, the breath work, the mindfulness, the meditation and so much more.
I feel blessed to be a part of the yoga sangha (community) here in Milton Keynes. I believe yoga is so much more than the physical practice of strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. I believe yoga is a lifestyle. A remedy. An mind-set. A discipline. The antidote to the dis-ease we are exposed to. I believe it’s all these things and more. For me, it’s a part of who I am, an essence of my life both on and off her mat.
