Mindfulness Immersion

MindfulnessMindfulness is a well-researched, non-religious and effective means of alleviating the stress, anxiety and depression that beset so many of us.

During this course, we will explore practices that allow us to cultivate mindful awareness and discover ways to live more in the present moment rather than brooding about the past or worrying about the future.

When practised regularly mindfulness can help us to:

  • Reduce stress and relax
  • Increase our ability to manage complex situations
  • Develop positive changes in well being

Find some calm in a busy world

What to Expect
Enjoy two days of non-doing!

The course runs across two days with a three-week gap between the days. In the first session, we will introduce some meditations and exercises which you then continue to practice over the following three weeks.

Mindfulness operates on two levels. You will be introduced to:

  • A series of simple daily meditations that can be done almost anywhere, some are as short as 3 minutes, others may take 15- 20 minutes
  • A variety of exercises that encourage us to break some of the unconscious habits of thinking and behaving that prevent us from living life to the full.

In the second session, there will be an opportunity to share and discuss our experiences and continue exploring further meditation techniques and exercises.

During the course, you will find there are many ways to be mindful. By trying all the different mindfulness practices you may discover the ones that are most useful for you and plan how to incorporate them into your everyday life

We’ll be using “Mindfulness: a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic World” written by Mark Williams and Danny Penman as our base text. This book is included in the course fee and includes the CD you’ll be using for daily practice.

Who’s it For?
The course has been based on the outlines laid down by Professor Mark Williams from the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. They were first recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health & Care Excellence) in 2004, and originally designed to be used by students of Oxford University and have since been taught to varied groups, including Members of Parliament, teachers, NHS staff and the police.

These weekend immersion days are perfect if you are interested in exploring the benefits of Mindfulness, and may be particularly beneficial to those suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, grief and trauma.
