Exams, peer pressure, homework and social media are just a few of the many stressors faced by children, and these can quickly lead to anxiety and unhappiness. Often this manifests in the following behaviours:
- Inability to regulate emotions
- Under developed social skills
- Poor attention
- Low self esteem
- Reduced quality of sleep
- Anxiety triggered by academic exams and tests
- Anger management issues
Do you have a child, or work with children who have challenges in any of these areas? Then this might be the time to teach them mindfulness skills, which will in turn provide life-long benefits.
Mindfulness is noticing what is happening around you right now, and learning to REALLY focus on the present moment. When children learn simple mindfulness techniques, they are able to focus more deeply and begin to pay attention allowing them to improve many areas in their lives.
What to expect
This course is specially designed to teach you and your child how to apply mindfulness and meditation skills to build resilience, enabling you both to cope with stress and difficult everyday situations.
Kelly will skillfully lead you through a series of exercises and discussions which focus on the importance of listening, for both adults and children. You will develop ways for the whole family to improve their listening skills. At the heart of this will be learning age-appropriate breathing and relaxation techniques.
The calm and safe environment of our Studio will support you as you enjoy these fun sessions and spend precious time together with your child, experiencing many benefits including:
- Stress reduction reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression
- Improvement of attention and focus in children with ADD and ADHD
- Improvement in working memory, resulting in better academic results
- Increased kindness and empathy towards family and peers
- Better skills for dealing with different emotions
Who is this for
Children aged between 6 and 11 years old and their family member or guardian. Mindfulness is a practice to be shared and taken into our everyday lives, which is why it is important to experience this course together so that both children and their grown-ups can learn techniques and skills to apply to life. No previous experience of mindfulness or meditation is required.

“We thought Kelly, the course leader, was fantastic. She was engaging, calm and welcoming and we felt very comfortable talking to her and following her teaching.
The exercises we practised were easy for complete newbies to mindfulness and we have gone on to use many of them at home.
Both my girls were skeptics at the beginning of the course and quite reluctant to come along, but due to the welcoming and safe environment of the studio, they felt able to actively join in and fully participate every week.
After the second week I would say we all really looked forward to Monday afternoons and the time we got to spend together there, away from the usual busy demands of our day to day life.
Thanks so much for putting on this course.”
