Yoga for Healthy Backs

Back PainMost people suffer from back pain at some point in their lives, and yet we do very little to specifically exercise the back to keep it strong, supple and functioning properly.  You can benefit from yoga, whether you are just suffering from your first episode of back pain, wanting to lessen the intensity and recurrence of episodes, or want to learn how to keep your back healthy.

In this workshop we’ll explore practices that brings awareness to the back, strengthen weak areas, loosen stiff segments, rebalance posture and increase mobility, circulation and the health of the nerves.  You will learn how to keep your back healthy with therapeutical practices if dealing with an episode of back pain. The session will include a deep relaxation, which is one of the most effective tools for dealing with pain and facilitating positive change.

The workshop is split into to two complementary sections – on the Lower Back and Upper Back/Neck – where we’ll focus on practices to relieve tension, increase strength and improving posture in both of these areas. Practicing Yoga for Healthy Backs can be a long term preventative measure for maintaining your back health.

Who’s it for?
Open to all levels including beginners, whether you are suffering from your first episode of back pain, needing information and tools to reduce intensity or frequency of re-occurring back pain, or wanting to educate yourself on how to keep your back safe and healthy. If you are suffering from a recent slipped disc, this workshop is not appropriate.  Please speak to your GP or consultant if you are unsure of your suitability to participate.

Teacher
Mona Baur has been teaching Yoga for over 10 years. She is a qualified British Wheel of Yoga Teacher and has completed specialist training in teaching Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs (YHLB) and in teaching Yoga Nidra Relaxation.
