Yoga, Essential Oils and Aromas

 July 1, 2018   1pm - 5pm  with Mona Baur

Join Mona for this deeply nurturing workshop, where we use essential oils to create a “scent memory ” helping you to connect to the breath and create a sense of mindful presence while you dive into your experience on your yoga mat.

Aroma connects directly to our parasympathetic nervous system – the branch of the autonomic nervous system that controls the peripheral organs and the ability to remain calm and relaxed. Inhaling aromas reaches the emotional aspect of our subconscious quickly – which is why sense of scent is such a powerful healing tool. The use of essential oils accelerates the relaxation effect in the workshop, helps reduce stress and in turn supports healthy immune function.

In this workshop, we will start with a simple, flowing yoga sequence before moving on to some deep impactful restorative postures, self-massage and finally with meditation and Yoga Nidra – all in combination with essential oils to support the elements of the practices.

Mona will be sharing different methods of using oils such as anointing, burning and vaporising, helping you to create healing, meditative spaces for yourself. You’ll learn how and why aromas have been used during practices, their vibrations and connection with energy centres and rituals throughout history and why we still apply these today.

Who’s it for?
Suitable for all levels except for complete beginners, pregnancy and students with asthma, as we are using small amounts of burning/smudging.
