Spring Shakti Yoga Circle

Join Mona for seasonal inspirations at our next  Spring Shakti Yoga Circle, April 29, 6-8.30pm

In this Spring Shakti Yoga Circle we celebrate and tune into the potential and fertility of this time to create opportunities for positive change in our lives and in the wider world.

In our yoga therapy practices we will give some focus on regulating the menstrual cycle and optimizing fertility, but remember that this Circle is for women of all ages – so come along and celebrate Beltaine! Plenty of chocolate eggs throughout and a magical Golden Egg Yoga Nidra Practice at the end of the evening.

Shakti Circle

Welcome to the first Shakti Yoga blog, providing you with seasonal greetings, mini yogic practices and useful womb yoga related resources.  It’s meant as a little treat for you in between our Whitespace Shakti Circles to provide inspiration for your Yoga practices in tune with the seasons and celebrations of the year.

After our beautiful, restful Winter Shakti Circle in February, where we were connecting inwards and exploring our own deeper knowing and crone wisdom, the wheel of the year has turned once again and Spring has finally arrived:
yellow daffodils and pink cherry blossom catching the sunshine, early evening comes and it’s still light.  Spring is finally here and summer is on the way.

Spring has returned.

The Earth is like a child that knows Poetry.

Shakti Yoga Practices for Spring

Like a leaf bud unfurling, our yoga practice reflects the shift of energy from the inner world of reflection, to the outer energy of growth and manifestation in the world.

This is a good time for a slightly more energizing Yoga practice –remember to stay in tune with your monthly cycles and focus on restful and restorative practices just before and during bleed time!

Connect with the burst of Spring Energy in this Variation of Moon Salutation:

Begin with some standing hip circles, fold forward on the out breath and step back into a low lunge with the back knee on the floor.  Raise the arms over head, breathing into this energizing and heart opening gesture.  Now step into Downward facing Dog and release down into extended Childs pose.  Try snaking through into Cobra pose and snaking back into Child’s pose.  Include Camel pose if you want before coming back again to Downward facing Dog pose, then step forward again to low lunge with raised arms, forward fold and back to standing.

Practise Full Yogic Breath:  Feel yourself expanding and unfolding, drawing in Spring Energy with each in breath and relax deeply on each out breath, connecting back to the Earth.

Invite nourishment and growth with a Yoga Nidra Practice in a supported, reclining Butterfly pose, using lots of cushions and bolsters.

Download a free Womb Yoga Nidra Practice to connect with the deep feminine knowing of cyclical wisdom.

Connect with the Wheel of the Year and celebrate Beltaine on 1 May

Beltane is a celebration of the potency of the earth and the forces of nature, a celebration of sexuality and the fertility that springs from the union of female and male forces. It is a time for practising the art of wooing, for letting passions fly in the exuberant joy of the moment. It is a time to express your self, but also to remember to stay grounded.

Make an Egg Charm for Beltaine

Blow out an egg and decorate it with symbols to represent whatever is meaningful for you, a heart for love, coin for prosperity, a candle for wisdom. Or you can paint the whole egg in a corresponding colour – red for love, green for prosperity, purple for wisdom etc.  Or stick rose petals on for love, or feathers for fertility, again choose whatever is meaningful for you. Hang it up and and recite a charm such as:

‘Little charm made of shell as I hang you here may all be well. May all things grow. May all things flow. Blessings for the turning of the Wheel.”
