Our bodies can only deal with stress if they are able to relax. Tai Chi helps to relax the mind as well as the body by bringing a sense of calm to those who practise regularly. It is the perfect antidote to a modern stressful life.

Our classes are run in a warm and friendly atmosphere, promoting enjoyment and confidence in the basic 8 form, with students progressing at your own pace and according to your ability. There is no competition or pressure within the class, everyone supports and helps each other. The exercises can be adapted and therefore are suitable for all ages and abilities.

Tai Chi is a graceful system of exercise whose history lies within martial arts, from where it developed. It works on several layers simultaneously, from the purely physical - strengthening and toning, to the internal - by increasing energy flow and also the mental/emotional level - by relaxing and calming.

During the performance of Tai Chi most of the muscles in the body are used, digestion and circulation are increased, with nutrients and oxygen being taken to all cells of both the mind and body. The immune system is also stimulated, helping to fight illness.

Through completing the postures the ability to balance is enhanced, particularly when using the core muscles to assist and energy levels within the body are boosted. Tai Chi aids relaxation of physical tensions within the muscles and with good posture it has the ability to help to overcome problems such as neck and back pain.
