Class styles

All of our yoga classes are based on Hatha Yoga principles – the most commonly practised style of yoga in the West. Hatha Yoga aims to balance the mind and body with the exploration of physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation.

We open each class with a short meditation, fill it full of glorious postures to overhaul the body and close it with a deep and beautiful relaxation. The practice is energising and intuitive, helping to tone and strengthen the body while cultivating awareness – calming and focusing the mind. It’s “The ultimate Yoga experience” offering a full mind, body and soul work out.

We offer many styles of hatha yoga – each bringing a different emphasis, such as focusing on strict alignment of the body, coordination of breath and movement, holding the postures, or the flow from one posture to another. All of the styles share a common lineage. No style is better than another; it’s simply a matter of personal preference. More important than any style is the student-teacher relationship. We encourage you to try a few classes and decide which class works best for you.

Ashtanga

the most athletic and physically demanding form of yoga, involving a series of set postures practised in sequence (vinyasa). A great practice if you are looking to challenge your stamina, strength and flexibility. A certain level of fitness is required to start Ashtanga.

Ashtanga Mysore Practice

a powerful and dynamic style, sometimes described as ‘a private session in a group environment’. The self practice session allows the student to work at their own pace whilst receiving individual physical adjustments and personal attention from the teacher. Students can come at any time during the session. Length of practice varies according to each student.  Class price is £12 or will take 1hr 15 mins from your Class Pass.

Baby Yoga

focuses on restoring tone, strength and align your body as well as relax and nourish you and your baby. This precious time provides continuation in building a unique relationship between you and your baby. You will be practising suitable and specific yoga sequences to help you maintain well-being, energise, restore and relax your body and mind. Basics

perfect for those who wish to focus on the basic fundamentals of their yoga practice. The class will be aimed at newbies and those returning to yoga, reinforcing the basic principles covered in our 4 Week Introduction to Yoga Course and focusing on key postures to build strength and a solid foundation.

Beginners Course

designed specifically for new students and led by friendly instructors trained to help you get the most out of every class. You will be alongside other beginners, discovering yoga or pilates in a safe and fun space. Breathing Space

experience the healing of focus, mindfulness and the breath’s energy, called prana, to increase physical healing, an alert mind, inner peace and the power within you that responds to stress, illness, pain and fear. This practice is fundamental to our optimal health and energy levels – helping to bring healing energy to the body and peace to the mind.

Community Class

a flowing class moving with the breath and building gradually, with adaptations/modifications offered to make it suitable for all levels of experience. This class is open to everyone and is half-price.

Deep Relaxation

this deeply nourishing class is based on iRest Yoga Nidra – a relaxation technique which effectively supports the body’s natural healing process. The practice is integrative, in that it can heal the various unresolved issues, traumas, and wounds that are present in our bodies and minds. It restores our underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life. 40 mins of some much needed deep healing, with a little movement at the end to get you prepared for the day ahead!

Dynamic Flow Yoga

an energising and strengthening session that will increase stamina, designed so that everyone discovers the potential to step out of their comfort zone and find their real inner strength.  Dynamic Flow Yoga classes will also give your heart a workout and leave you feeling refreshed, energised and relaxed.  Ideal for all participants, an Open Level class so great for everyone, except beginners.

Early Risers Yoga

start your day with a shot of your favourite practice to wake you up; better than super strong coffee! Practicing yoga early in the morning really sets the tone for your whole day, helping you to bring a little calm and yoga-glow into everything you do. Flow & Restore Yoga

Flow & Restore is the perfect way to end a busy week.  Enjoy a juicy yoga flow to wring out the toxins and stress from the day; helping to awaken your body and clear your mind. The dynamic and fluid practices will heat the body and build strength, endurance and flexibility.  Class ends with a restorative pose or two to revive your vital energy … a calming, healing and soothing way to end your practice.

Hatha Yoga

the most widely practiced form of yoga in the world. A blend of classic postures, deep stretching and calming breathwork to relax the body and de-stress the mind. The pace of the class can be gentle or more dynamic depending on the time or day, or mood of the participants!

Pilates

as taught by Joseph Pilates, is a mind body exercise which will target the core stabilising muscles. Builds a stronger, healthier back; a flatter tummy; a more toned, mobile and flexible body; better posture, fitness and general wellbeing; rehabilitation from injury; or balancing and strengthening the mind and the body. Matwork Pilates classes are a fun and safe form of exercise.

Power

a powerful sequence of Hatha postures practiced continually. A more challenging class. Sometimes difficult, always fun, this is a class for those interested in a more vigorous and energising practice. The physical practice will naturally build heat in the body and help eliminate toxins.

Post Natal

the perfect class to focus on Mum while baby comes along for the ride, these exercises will help to boost your confidence and get your body back into shape. Ideal for any new mum (suitable from 6 weeks after the birth of your baby or 12 weeks if you have had a caesarean).

Pregnancy Yoga

a nurturing and supportive environment to share and embrace your journey of pregnancy and motherhood – suitable at +14wks. Working according to your own energy levels, maintaining strength and fitness during pregnancy. Restorative

a deep and nurturing form of yoga, Restorative yoga postures help us learn to relax and rest deeply & completely. Poses are supported, passive and held a long period to invoke during deep relaxation, which is very healing to the nervous system (including the brain) and organ systems of the body. Benefits include lowered blood pressure, improved immune function, digestion, fertility and elimination. Restorative is a powerful way to reduce of muscle tension and general fatigue, helping the body and mind restore vital energy. Open to all levels from complete beginners to more experienced practitioners. Great for anyone in recovery!

Recharge & Restore

the perfect treat during or after a busy week!. Recharge & Restore is an unhurried, nurturing and nourishing session, combining slow flowing movements to gently raise energy levels, mindfully held postures to release daily tightness, and juicy restorative yoga poses for total relaxation. With a smattering of breathing and meditation in the mix, it is a treat for mind, body and soul. Suitable for all levels, including those new to yoga or recovering from injury or illness.

Yang Yoga

a slow alignment based movement and breath centred practice using muscular energy to stabilise postures. It is particularly suitable for those wishing to build strength and suitable for beginners to intermediate level. Designed to develop and maintain strength and stability in the muscles as well as the joints, increase vitality and vibrancy in the systems of the body, and to cultivate a greater awareness of the energy body.

Yin Yoga

focuses on the connective tissue that surrounds the joints and increase its elasticity. The elasticity of our connective tissue diminishes with physical activity and aging, which makes Yin essential for injury prevention and joint health. Since a Yin Yoga practice often includes several long, seated forward bending postures, it also restores energy and calms the nervous system. Pure bliss!

Yin to Restore Yoga

Yin Yoga offers a sweet, relaxing stretch focused on lengthening muscles, releasing fascia and allowing ligaments and tendons to release.  In Restorative Yoga we move into a relaxation so deep and supported that you are almost asleep.  Yin to Restore offers the best of both worlds! In this class we do some deep, active stretching and mix in some fully supported, deep-release and restoration.  Come in, unwind, and restore balance to your hard working body.

Vinyasa Yoga Flow

a fluid approach for those with some Yoga experience. The pace of the class can be gentle or more dynamic depending on the time of day, or mood of the participants! Builds strength, endurance, and a strong focus. The classroom is not heated, but the physical practice will naturally build heat in the body.
